Halley Shoenberg-Clarinet/Alto/Tenor Sax

Halley Shoenberg grew up listening to her parents’ musical theater and jazz records and remembers family saying “you’ll be just like Benny Goodman” when she started learning the clarinet.  For more than 20 years she has performed in the DC area and beyond with many bands that specialize in swing and early jazz.  In addition to performing with Craig Gildner and Blue Sky 5, as the clarinet soloist in the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, Halley is regularly featured on classic swing masterpieces and evening-long Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman tributes.

Performing classic standards, swing, modern jazz and originals as leader of her own "Halley Shoenberg Jazz Quartet" and other ensembles, her concert and festival presentations have won the hearts of smiling, toe-tapping jazz enthusiasts.  Past performances with her own groups include DC area festivals such as the Bethesda, MD Fine Arts Festival, Alexandria, VA Jazz Festival and the Silver Spring Swings concert series and concerts at the Mansion at Strathmore. She has played at major venues including the Kennedy Center, National Parks, at the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival and Blues Alley. Her Trio was featured in Worchester, MA at a live performance and broadcast for WICN Radio.  She has performed with groups on tour in Germany, at the Chilliwack Jazz Festival in British Columbia, Cincinnati, New York and at the French Quarter Festival, New Orleans.

A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Halley earned her Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University and Master's in Arts Administration from Florida State University.
