| The Carlyle Club HSBC Private Party - 4/17/08 - We had a ball entertaining HSBC for their most recent corporate event at the Carlyle Club. An absolutely perfect setting for the area's most sophisticated swing ensemble. Gary Gregg on clarinet and James Fowler on bass. |
| Glen Echo
Bumper Car Pavillion - 5 | 18 | 2007 - It
was a fabulous night for dancing on May 18th, and Jam
Cellar's hosting of the seven piece band was a winning
combination. Roving photographer Chris Crerar captured
the good times had by the band and dancers. Smiles galore! |

Holiday
Hop - 12 | 11 | 2005 - A special X-mas
treat for this Glen Echo dance! Blue Sky 5 became Blue
Sky 7 with the addition of Chris Crerar on vocals, and
Seth Kibel on clarinet. The band did tunes from its
early days, some clarinet features from the songbook
of the Goodman Trios and Shaw Grammercy Fives, plus
new original tunes. Everyone kept warm because the tempos
were hot. Chris and Craig fought constantly over who
got to wear the santa hat! Now, chillun...... |
| Lincoln
Center - 07 | 08 | 2005 - Rain rain, go away...the
boys from D.C wanna play! Despite a sporadic afternoon
shower, Blue Sky 5 hit the stage after event promoters
dried the outside dance floor with huge squeegees..and
the band played on! We thank the die hard NY lindy hoppers
who came and danced right till the end. |
| Glen
Echo - 07 | 02 | 2005 - The band always gets
a kick out of performing on the same stage where the big
bands of Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman played for evening
dances in the 40's. This night was high energy, with a
packed dance floor. |
| Blues
Alley - 01 | 18 | 2005 - The band got a warm
reception on a cold winter's night at this venerable DC
jazz club, where they dished up some of their favorite
swing era and mainstream jazz tunes. Photos by Danny
